At Synergy Multispecialty Hospital, we witness many challenging cases daily, but some stories leave an indelible mark on our hearts. One such story is about a 7-month-old infant who recently overcame a severe battle with dengue shock syndrome and multiorgan failure. This miraculous recovery is a testament to the resilience of our little patients and the dedication of our medical team. The Initial Struggle

The journey began when a 7-month-old baby from Vijayapur was admitted to our hospital with a high fever that had persisted for three days, two episodes of convulsions, and an altered sensorium. The baby’s condition deteriorated rapidly, developing acute liver failure with shock and altered RT aspirates, hypoglycemia, and Malena. Critical Findings

  • Dengue NS1 & IgM positive

  • INR > 3

  • aPTT > 100

  • Liver enzymes > 5000

  • Platelets: 18,000

  • Ferritin: 7800

Decision to Trust Synergy Multispecialty Hospital Given the severity of the baby’s condition, the doctors in Vijayapur recommended a transfer to a specialized facility in Bangalore. However, the baby’s parents decided to bring their child to Miraj, trusting in Dr. Sachin Jangam’s expertise, whose skill and compassion had previously saved their relative’s child. The words of hope, "Agar bachcha chahiye to Sachin sir ke pas jao," echoed in their minds as they sought our care. The Intensive Battle The baby faced a fulminant course of severe complications:

  • Encephalitis, causing severe brain inflammation

  • Acute liver failure, threatening vital functions

  • Circulatory failure

  • Bleeding diathesis, causing severe blood clotting issues

  • Dry gangrene of the toe due to shock

  • Capillary leak syndrome, leading to fluid overload and ventilation complications

Medical Intervention and Team Effort Our medical team, led by Dr. Jangam, sprang into action. The baby required ventilator support for 14 days, during which time our team performed critical procedures with precision. Despite the challenges, the baby remarkably avoided ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP), thanks to meticulous care.

Dr. Jangam intubated the baby, ensuring a secure airway, and placed a central line to administer vital medications and fluids. The team managed fluid overload and organ congestion, facing each complication head-on with unwavering dedication. Parental Strength and Faith Throughout this ordeal, the baby’s parents remained a constant presence, their faces a blend of fear and hope. Their unwavering faith and strength were truly inspiring. They watched their baby fight for life, holding on to every encouraging word and small victory. A Miraculous Recovery

Today, after 23 days of relentless battle, we had the joy of discharging the baby, healthy and vibrant. It felt like witnessing a second birth. The relief and happiness on the parents’ faces were indescribable.

Conclusion

This miraculous recovery was made possible by the tireless efforts of our medical team and the extraordinary dedication of Dr. Jangam. His expertise, compassion, and unwavering commitment were the pillars of this success story.

At Synergy Multispecialty Hospital, we believe in the power of hope, faith, and tireless medical care. This case is a shining example of what can be achieved with expert care and the unyielding spirit of our little fighters.
